A Poison's Antidote

A nothingness surrounds me
Choking me, killing me.
Slowly, ever slowly, it sinks its teeth in deep.

A poison is injected
Flowing in, soaking in
Swiftly, oh so swiftly, it burns toward my heart.

And so it lives within me,
Rooted deep, far too deep!
A darkness so far in me I do not see it there.

But hope comes, unexpected
From where? Oh where?
What light, what action, has saved me from despair?

The answer lies inside me
I know what, I know who;
And a time soon will come when others know it, too.
