When I read a book it takes me away

To a different time, to a different day

I can go anywhere (round about)

All I need to do is check a book out


One moment I’m with 3 shiny knights

The next moment I’m with eagles in flight

Then I take a trip under the sea
Then I’m in a room, alone with just me

I smile to myself at the things that I’ve read

I’ve been all around, yet stayed in my bed
The poor people who’ve never had this feeling
Trying to keep it inside, I can’t help but squealing

I’ve been places one can only imagine

In a mountain, fighting a dragon
I’ve done all this, and even more
And I never even had to go to the store

Some books are old and forgotten

And some have characters that are nasty and rotten
But as long as you have a book in your hand
You better prepare for a time that is grand
